FLEXPLATE - 3.0L Diesel

- The stamped-steel flex plate (3) is fastened to the crankshaft and can only be installed one way.
- The crankshaft has a dowel locating pin that is used to align the magnetic tone wheel and the counter weight.
- The counter weight can only be installed one way. The dead hole on the back side of the counter weight is for the dowel pin. The other hole is a through hole that is not to be used.
- The stamped-steel flex plate has a segment ring to provide engine speed and crankshaft position information to the Power Control Module (PCM). The crankshaft position sensor is mounted next to the segment ring and sends electrical pulses to the PCM.
