The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) multiplies short term compensation by the long term adaptive. If the PCM calculates that the FMO correction quantity is equal to or greater than a calibrated threshold, a freeze frame is stored, the MIL illuminates, and a DTC is stored. This is a two Trip Fault.
