Diagnostic Test

CHECK THE CRANK SENSOR FOR DAMAGE OR WIRING HARNESS OR CONNECTOR ISSUES
- Turn the ignition off.
- Check the CKP Sensor wiring between the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and CKP Sensor harness connectors for poor terminal contact, corrosion or other problems that may cause erratic CKP Sensor signals.
- Check the CKP Sensor for damage and proper mounting.
Were there any signs of damage?
Yes
- Repair or replace as necessary. Use the Service Information to check for engine mechanical problems that may have occurred due to excessive engine speed.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 3.0L, POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
