NOTE:

The exhaust muffler heat shield can be serviced with muffler in place. shown in illustration with muffler removed for clarity.

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Remove the nuts and the exhaust muffler heat shield.

INSTALLATION

During installation, torque the fasteners to the specifications in the torque table(s) below.

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.

Make sure the muffler/exhaust system is aligned and has the proper clearance. The minimum clearance is 25 mm (1 inch). Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
Start the engine and inspect for leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
