Removal And Installation: Muffler: Notes
REMOVAL
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Position a safety stand under the exhaust resonator/muffler assembly.
1 - Cut Line - Cut the exhaust tail pipe as indicated (red line).
1 - Exhaust Muffler Isolator 2 - Exhaust Muffler Isolator Bolts - Remove the bolts and the exhaust muffler isolator.
1 - Exhaust Muffler Clamp Nut 2 - Exhaust Muffler - Remove the transfer case skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Loosen the exhaust clamp nut.
- Remove the exhaust resonator/muffler.
INSTALLATION
During installation, torque the fasteners to the specifications in the torque table(s) below.
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
- Use the new exhaust clamp shown in illustration between to connect the exhaust muffler to the exhaust tailpipe.
- Make sure the exhaust pipe/exhaust system is aligned and has the proper clearance. The minimum clearance is 25 mm (1 inch). Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
- Start the engine and inspect for leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.

TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
