1 - Catalytic Converter NOTE:The catalytic converter flange is secured to the cylinder head. A steel sleeve holds the lower section of the converter flange to the head while two bolts fasten the flange to the cylinder head. The steel sleeve does not need to be removed for converter removal.
- Using care, lift the catalytic converter upwards to remove from the steel sleeve and out from the bottom of the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
During installation, torque the fasteners to the specifications in the torque table(s) below.
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
- Using a NEW gasket, position the catalytic converter assembly into the steel sleeve on the cylinder head through the bottom of the vehicle.
- Make sure the exhaust pipe/exhaust system is aligned and has the proper clearance. The minimum clearance is 25 mm (1 inch). Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
- Start the engine and inspect for leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
