Rear Axle Shaft - M220: Notes
REMOVAL
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the brake caliper with the adapter and the brake rotor.
1 - Park Brake Cable 2 - Support Plate - Remove the park brake cable from the support plate.
1 -Wire Harness 3 - Park Brake Cable 2 - Wire Harness Retainer 4 - Wheel Speed Sensor Harness Connector - Disconnect the wheel speed sensor wire harness connector.
1 - Wheel Speed Sensor 2 - Wheel Speed Sensor Bolt - Remove the wheel speed sensor bolt and remove the wheel speed sensor.
1 - Axle Shaft Retainer Nuts - Remove the axle shaft retainer nuts.
1 -Axle Tube 3 - Axle Shaft 2 - Pry Bar 4 - Support Plate - Remove the axle shaft with the support plate, bearing and seal from axle tube using a pry bar or suitable tool.
INSTALLATION
During installation, torque the fasteners to the specifications in the torque table(s) below.
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
WARNING:
Never reuse axle retainer nuts. Used torque nuts can loosen up. Failure to follow these instruction may result in personal injury.
- Verify that the wheel speed sensor wiring harness is secured in the retainers.
