Diagnostic Test
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- For future reference, with the scan tool, run and save a vehicle Scan Report and all related recorded data.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the When Monitored and Set Conditions above and recorded data, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.

- Perform the appropriate INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE VEHICLE CONFIGURATION NOTE:
If CAN C bus communication DTCs are present, perform the COMMUNICATION DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE. Refer to COMMUNICATION DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
- With the scan tool, check the vehicle configuration stored in the Body Control Module (BCM).
Pick the answer that best describes your findings:
BCM has the wrong/no vehicle configuration.
- Go To 3
BCM has the correct vehicle configuration and the DTC is active in the PAM.
- Check if other modules such as the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) have the wrong configuration stored in the controller and reprogram or replace as necessary.
- If all other modules show the proper configuration, replace and program the PAM Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, PARK ASSIST (PAM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- With the scan tool, check the vehicle configuration stored in the Body Control Module (BCM).
- CHECK THE BCM HARDWARE, SOFTWARE, AND PART NUMBERS NOTE:
If CAN C bus communication DTCs are present, perform the COMMUNICATION DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE. Refer to COMMUNICATION DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
- With the scan tool, look at the BCM hardware, software, and part numbers and record on the repair order.
Are the BCM hardware, software, and part numbers correct for the vehicle?
Yes
- With the scan tool, program the proper vehicle configuration into the BCM.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the BCM in accordance with the service information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL (BCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
