Theory Of Operation

The Body Control Module (BCM) monitors door lock and unlock inputs from the Remote Keyless Entry FOBIK, Driver Door Lock Switch and Passenger Door Lock Switch, through the Passive Entry Antenna or Left and Right Door Lock Switch Status circuits. The BCM provides a ground to the Door Lock Switches through the Driver and Passenger Door Lock Switch Return circuits.

Based on the door lock and unlock inputs, the BCM activates the lock and unlock functions of the bidirectional Driver, Passenger, and Rear (if equipped) Door Lock Motors (integral to the Door Latches) for 370 milliseconds, before returning to the neutral position.

Door Lock:  When the Body Control Module (BCM) receives a request to lock the doors, the BCM provides a voltage signal to the Door Lock Control circuit and a ground signal to the Front Driver Door Unlock Control circuit and Door Unlock Control circuit to actuate the Driver, Passenger, and Rear Door Lock Motors to the lock position.

Driver Door Unlock:  When the Body Control Module (BCM) receives a request to unlock the Driver Door only, the BCM provides a ground signal to the Door Lock Control circuit and a voltage signal to the Front Driver Door Unlock circuit, to actuate the Driver Door Lock Motor to the unlock position.

All Doors Unlock:  When the Body Control Module (BCM) receives a request to unlock all Doors, the BCM provides a ground signal to the Door Lock Control circuit and a voltage signal to the Front Driver Door Unlock Control circuit and Door Unlock Control circuit to actuate the Driver, Passenger, and Rear Door Lock Motors to the unlock position.
