Removal And Installation: Removal
WARNING:
Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable and wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
NOTE:
Take the proper precautions to protect the face of the shifter bezel from cosmetic damage while performing this procedure.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the shifter bezel and place it on a workbench. Refer to BEZEL, SHIFTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- Remove the fasteners (2) that secure the Hill Decent/4WD Lock switch bank (3) to the shifter bezel (1) and remove the switch bank.
- Remove the fasteners (5) that secure the Sport Mode/Hill switch (4) to the shifter bezel (1) and remove the switch.
