Integrated Control Unit (ICU): Removal
NOTE:
Before disassembling the Integrated Control Unit (ICU), the ICU must be thoroughly cleaned. This must be done to prevent dirt particles and debris from entering into vital areas of the ICU.
- Install the brake pedal holding tool.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the Power Distribution Center (PDC) (2). Refer to CENTER, POWER DISTRIBUTION (PDC), REMOVAL
.
- Remove the bolts (2) from the PDC mount (1), lift up and disconnect the wire harness retaining clips from the underside of the PDC mount and set the mount aside.
- Disconnect the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module wire harness connector (3) from the ICU (4).
- Remove the brake lines (1 and 5) at the ICU.
- Loosen the two nuts (2) securing the ICU (4) to the bracket and remove the ICU.
- If removing the brake booster, remove the ICU bracket mounting bolts and remove the bracket from the vehicle.
