Diagnostic Test
- VERIFY THE DTC IS ACTIVE NOTE:
Diagnose and repair any Powertrain Control Module (PCM), VIN or Communication DTCs before continuing with this diagnostic procedure.
NOTE:After erasing ACTIVE DTCs it may be necessary for the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module to go to sleep before the DTCs are cleared. IF the DTC is still ACTIVE after the clear command then Turn the ignition off, disconnect the Scan Tool, close the doors and wait until all indicators on the Cluster have gone out, typically about 30 seconds.
NOTE:This DTC must be active for the results of this test to be valid.
- Perform any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that may apply.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
- Cycle the ignition switch from off to on.
- With the scan tool, read the DTCs.
Is the DTC active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the ABS-INTERMITTENT CONDITION TEST. Refer to ABS INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK IF POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE DTCS ARE PRESENT
- With the scan tool, read the PCM DTCs.
Are there any PCM DTCs present?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedures. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information. .
No
- Go To 3
- With the scan tool, read the PCM DTCs.
- (T22) BACKUP LAMP SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
- Turn ignition off.
- Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Disconnect the Back-up Lamp Switch harness connector.
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- Measure the voltage of the (T22) Backup Lamp Switch Signal circuit in the Back-up Lamp Switch harness connector.
Is the voltage above 5.25 volts?
Yes
- Repair the (T22) Backup Lamp Switch Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Replace the Backup Lamp Switch.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to the appropriate information. .
- With the scan tool, read the DTCs.
Does the DTC remain active?
Yes
- Replace the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS), REMOVAL .
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
