Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

CAUTION:

Do not use an impact socket or a thick walled socket when removing or installing the flexplate retaining bolts, damage to the crankshaft, internal engine or the transmission may occur.

  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  2. Install the (Special Tool No. 10272, Tool, Flywheel Locking) (1).
  3. Remove and discard the bolts (2a) and remove the flexplate (2b).
  4. Remove the flywheel locking tool (1).
  5. Using a suitable tool clean all sealant from the bolt holes.

INSTALLATION 

CAUTION:

Do not use an impact socket or a thick walled socket when removing or installing the flexplate retaining bolts, damage to the crankshaft, internal engine or the transmission may occur.

  1. Install the flexplate (1) and the new bolts (3) hand tight.
  2. Install the (Special Tool No. 10272, Tool, Flywheel Locking) (2).
  3. Tighten the new bolts (3) in the sequence shown, to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Remove the flywheel locking tool (2).
  5. Install the transmission. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
