Remove Cylinder Head And Oil Pan For Inspection - 1.3L
- Remove the engine from the vehicle and place on maintenance stand. Refer to
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
- Remove the catalytic converter collar bolt (1).
- Remove the bolts (1a) and the nuts (1b), and remove the upper catalytic converter mounting bracket (1c).
- Remove the nuts (1) from the exhaust pipe flange.
- Remove the bolts (2) securing the catalytic converter support bracket to the crankcase.
- Remove the bolts (3) from the side mounting brackets.
- Remove the catalytic converter assembly (1).
- Remove the plug (1) and drain the engine oil.
- Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the turbocharger intake air temperature sensor.
- Disconnect the quick coupling (2) for the oil vapor pipe.
- Loosen the band clamp (3) and remove the turbocharger air intake pipe.
- Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.
- Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the engine coolant heating coil.
- Disengage the wiring from the retainer (2).
- Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
- Disconnect the electrical connection (2) from the pressure pump.
- Disengage the wiring from the retainer (1).
- Remove the bolts (1) and disconnect the ground wires.
- Disconnect the electrical connections (1) from the ignition coils.
- Disconnect the electrical connections (1) from the Multiair actuators.
- Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connection (2).
- Disconnect the electrical connection (3) from the Multiair module oil temperature sensor.
- Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connections (4).
- Disconnect the electrical connection from the throttle body (1a) and release the wiring from the retainer (1b).
- Disconnect the electrical connection for the evaporative purge valve (1a) and release the wiring from the retainer (1b).
- Disconnect the air temperature and pressure sensor electrical connection (1).
- Release the wiring from the intermediate retainers.
- Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the auxiliary coolant pump.
- Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.
- Disengage the wiring from the retainer (2).
- Disconnect the electrical connections (1) from the knock sensors.
- Disengage the wiring from the retainer (2).
- Disengage the wire harness connector (1) from the retaining bracket.
- Disengage the wiring from the retainers (1).
- Disconnect the electrical connection (2) from the oil pressure sensor.
- Disconnect the engine oil pump displacement control solenoid valve electrical connection (3).
- Remove the bolts (1a) and release the wiring duct (1b).
- Disengage the wiring from the retainers (1).
- Disconnect the electrical connection for the air temperature sensor (1a) and release the wiring from the retainer (1b).
- Disconnect the electrical connection for the air supercharging sensor (2) and release the wiring from the retainer (1b).
- Disconnect the turbocharger actuator electrical connection (1).
- Disengage the wiring from the retainer (2).
- Disconnect the electrical connection (3) from the turbocharger by-pass solenoid valve.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connections (1).
- Disengage the engine wire harness (1) from the retainer and remove it.
- Install the (Special Tool No. 2063700090, Locking, Crankshaft) timing tool (1).
- Remove the bolts (1) and remove the wiring duct between the battery and alternator.
- Use a wrench on the bolt (1a) to rotate the belt tensioner (1b) and remove the engine accessory drive belt (1c).
- Remove the bolts (1a) and the alternator (1b).
- Remove the bolts (1a) and the A/C compressor (1b).
- Remove the nuts (1) from the throttle body end of the air pipe between the turbocharger and the throttle body.
- Remove the bolts (1) from the turbocharger and remove the rigid air outlet pipe from the turbocharger.
- Remove the bolts (1a), the nut (1b) and the turbocharger heat shield (1c).
- Remove the bolts (1) from the turbocharger oil supply and return pipes.
- Remove the nuts (1a) and remove the turbocharger (1b) with the oil supply and return pipes attached.
- Remove the turbocharger heat shield/gasket (1).
- Remove the bolts (1a) from the water pump coolant intake connector (1b) and remove it.
- Remove the engine oil cooler bolts (1).
- Remove the mounting bracket bolt (2).
- Remove the intermediate bracket bolt (1a) and remove the engine oil cooler (1b) with the supply and return pipes.
- Remove the bolt (1a) and remove the heat shield (1b) and CMP sensor (1c).
- Remove the bolts (1a) and the vacuum pump (1b).
- Remove the bolts (1a) and the thermostat (1b) complete with gasket.
- Remove the bolts (1a) and the bracket (1b).
- Disconnect the quick coupling (1a) of the pressure pump fuel supply pipe and remove the fuel pump heat shield (1b).
- Loosen the nuts (1) and remove the high pressure fuel pipe from the pressure pump and fuel rail.
- Disconnect the quick coupling (1) of the oil vapor pipe from the cylinder head cover.
- Remove the bolts (1a) and the fuel rail (1b) with injectors.
- Remove the upper bolts (1) from the intake manifold.
- Remove the lower bolt (2a) and remove the intake manifold (2b).
- Rotate the engine 180° on the maintenance stand.
- Remove the oil pan bolts (1).
- Using the 1870718000 tool (1), cut the silicone sealant along the entire perimeter of the engine oil pan.
- Remove the bolts (1) and the windage tray.
- Remove the bolt (2) and remove the oil pickup tube.
- Install the (Special Tool No. 2063500090, Locking, Camshaft) timing tool (1) on the vacuum pump mounting surface and securely tighten the bolts.
- Install the (Special Tool No. 2064000090, Locking, Pulley) tool (1) above the damper pulley and securely tighten the bolts.
- Remove the damper bolt (2).
- Remove the damper pulley (3) from the crankshaft.
- Remove the bolts (2) and the water pump cover (1).
- Remove the bolts (1) and the duct.
- Remove the bolts (1) and the coolant pump.
- Remove the bolts (1) and the ignition coils.
- Remove the spark plugs (1).
- Remove the engine oil fill cap (1) and dipstick.
- Remove the bolts (1) and the cylinder head cover complete with gasket.
- Install the (Special Tool No. 2027207090, Tab, 90 Degree), (Special Tool No. 2020001090, Adapter, Multi Air Spring Compressor), Stand-Off Adapter 2020000091 to the (Special Tool No. 10259B, Compressor, MultiAir® Spring) (1) on the Multiair module and compress the plates.
- Remove the bolts (1a) and the Multiair module (1b).
- Remove the bolts (1a) and (1b).
- Remove the timing cover (2).
- Use the chain guide (1a) to push in the tensioner piston and insert a suitable pin (1b) in the hole provided (1c).
- Remove the bolts (1a) and the timing chain guide (1b).
- Remove the crankshaft sprocket and the timing chain.
- Remove the bolts (1a) and the camshaft caps (1b).
- Remove the rear camshaft cap (2).
- Remove the camshaft (3).
- Remove the hydraulic tappets (1).
- Remove the bolts (1a) and remove the complete cylinder head (1b).
NOTE:
The damper bolt has a left-hand thread.
