Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

1. Disassemble the cylinder head to remove the valves. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD, DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY .

2. Remove the valve guides using the 1871008500 tool (1).
3. Measure the valve guide bore and check that it is within the specified values. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS  .
4. The valve guides are supplied by Spare Parts in oversized outside diameters of +0.05 mm, +0.10 mm and +0.25 mm.
5. Check the measurement of the new valve guide.
6. If necessary, ream the valve guide bore to the next oversize diameter.
7. Make a note of the measurement of the valve guide bore after reaming.
8. Verify that the interference fit between the valve guide and the valve guide bore in the cylinder head is within the specified values. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS  .

INSTALLATION

1. Install the new intake side valve guides using the 1860994000 tool (1).
   NOTE:

   Install the new exhaust side valve guides using the 2000024700 tools (1a) and 1860994000 (1b).

2. If the valve guides are slightly distorted during installation, ream the inner surface using a suitably-sized reamer.
3. Measure the valve guide inner diameter after installation and the clearance with the valve; check that it is within the specified values. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS  .
