Manual Park Release (MPR) Disengagement

The Manual Park Release (MPR) lever is used to put the transmission in neutral with the engine off or vehicle power is unavailable and the vehicle needs to be towed or moved. When the lever is pulled, the cable moves the park pawl lever into the NEUTRAL position. When the cable is released, spring tension allows the park pawl to return to the PARK position.

WARNING:

Always secure your vehicle by fully applying the parking brake, before activating the Manual Park Release. Activating the Manual Park Release will allow your vehicle to roll away if it is not secured by the parking brake or by proper connection to a tow vehicle. Activating the Manual Park Release on an unsecured vehicle could lead to serious injury or death for those in or around the vehicle.

Set the parking brake.

Remove the MPR cover using a trim stick.

Using a suitable tool, rotate the MPR (1) counter-clockwise until it locks in place.
