Removal And Installation: MPT3015C

REMOVAL 

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Using a suitable lifting device, raise and support the engine.
  3. Remove the transmission belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Mark the rear driveshaft and flanges for reassembly alignment. Remove the rear driveshaft from the vehicle. Refer to SHAFT, DRIVE, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Support the transfer case and transmission.
  6. Remove the transfer case skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Remove the transmission crossmember. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  8. Mark the front driveshaft and transfer case flange for reassembly alignment.
  9. Remove the front driveshaft to transfer case flange bolts. Separate the front driveshaft from the flange. Push the shaft in toward the front differential, support and set aside.

  10. Mark the rear driveshaft and transfer case flange for reassembly alignment.
  11. Remove and DISCARD  the rear driveshaft to transfer case bolts. Separate the rear driveshaft from the flange, support and set aside.

  12. Disconnect the transfer case shift motor wire harness connector.

  13. Remove the left side transfer case to transmission bolts.

  14. Remove the right side transfer case to transmission bolts.
  15. Remove the transfer case from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION 

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.

During installation torque the following fasteners to specification:

Transfer Case to Transmission Bolt 48 N. m (35 Ft. Lbs.)  -
Front Driveshaft To Flange Bolts 56 N. m (41 Ft. Lbs.)  If removed, NEW  bolts must be installed and tightened to specifications.
Rear Driveshaft To Flange Bolts 56 N. m (41 Ft. Lbs.)  If removed, NEW 
bolts must be installed and tightened to specifications.
