Transfer Case MPT3015: Notes

This transfer case has limited components that can be replaced. The mainshaft and clutch assembly components are not serviceable since they will change the torque classification of the transfer case assembly. If the torque classification is altered from the original, the new torque classification cannot be determined in the field. For this reason only limited components can be replaced during service. An accurate clutch classification must be correctly entered in the DTCM to be shared with other vehicle modules. Some of the major components that can be replaced are listed below. Depending on the issue that is attempting to be repaired, check with the parts information for the complete list of components that can be serviced.

• Chain
• Chain guides
• Bearings
• Seals
• Case halves
• Front output gear
• Flanges
• Motor/DTCM Assembly - This would require the transfer case classification code that is stamped on the transfer case housing being programmed into the new DTCM

The following components cannot be replaced separately:

• Mainshaft - Changes clutch classification
• Clutch and ball ramp assembly - Changes clutch classification
• Oil deflectors - These do not affect the clutch classification but do not come separate. Use care when removing and installing any of the plastic oil deflectors.
• Oil deflector tube retaining tabs - These are part of the ball ramp which cannot be replaced separate. Use care when removing the deflector tube not to break the tabs.

There are no clearances that require adjustment to account for during assembly of the transfer case. The only adjustable components are the clutches in the clutch assembly which cannot be serviced.
