Serpentine Belt

REMOVAL 

  1. Remove the clean air hose. Refer to HOSE, CLEAN AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 5.7L .

    1 - Right Idler Pulley
    2 - Serpentine Belt
    3 - Belt Tensioner
    CAUTION:

    Do not let the tensioner arm snapback to the fully extended position, severe damage may occur to the tensioner.

  2. Using a suitable tool, rotate the belt tensioner clockwise  until it contacts the stop. Remove the serpentine belt from the right idler pulley and slowly release the belt tensioner.
  3. Remove the serpentine belt.

INSTALLATION 

NOTE:

When installing the serpentine belt, make sure that it is properly routed on all the pulleys.

  1. Install the NEW  serpentine belt over all pulleys except for the right idler pulley.
  2. Rotate the belt tensioner clockwise  until it contacts the stop. Install the serpentine belt over the right idler pulley and slowly release the belt tensioner.
  3. Install the clean air hose. Refer to HOSE, CLEAN AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 5.7L .
