Automatic High Beams

The BCM uses internal configuration parameters to determine if the vehicle is equipped with the auto high beam feature and if the auto high beam feature is using the CADM for operation.

The headlamp switch needs to be in the AUTO position, the high beam select lever needs to be ON and the auto high beam feature enabled in the radio for the system to operate.

The CADM acquires several CAN signals for system use and communicates with the BCM to support AHBS control

The DASM will send the following CAN-C message to the BCM:

When lighting conditions are met and no objects are detected, the CADM sends a bus message to the BCM to enable the auto high beam system. The BCM will check the following conditions to enable the AHBS feature:

• Low beam status is ON
• Headlamp switch position selection is in AUTO
• High beam stalk position is in HIGH BEAM
• Auto high beam customer setting is ENABLED
• HOWW feature is NOT ACTIVE
