Diagnostic Test

  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
    3. NOTE: A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs. 
    4. With the scan tool, record and erase the Radio DTCs.
    5. With the scan tool, perform the Reset ECU  function under the Guided Diagnostics menu.
    6. Cycle the ignition switch from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
    7. Turn the Radio on and set the volume to 25.
    8. Adjust the speakers to the front and center.
    9. With the scan tool, read the active Radio DTCs.
      NOTE:

      A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. TEST THE REAR CAMERA 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Rear Camera from the harness connector.
      NOTE:

      The camera on this vehicle can be swapped with a like configured vehicle for testing purposes since it is not a "smart" module, nor is it VIN written, or connected to the network (CAN or LIN bus) for diagnostic purposes. The camera uses LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) for sending images to the module.

    3. If available, swap the camera from a like configured vehicle. If a like configured vehicle is not available, replace the Rear Camera in accordance with the service information.
    4. Turn the ignition on.
    5. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    6. With the scan tool, perform the Reset ECU  function under the Guided Diagnostics menu.
    7. Turn the Radio on and wait 25 seconds.
    8. With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • If a camera was swapped from a like configured vehicle return the camera to that vehicle.
      • If the camera has been replaced because a like configured vehicle was not available, perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. TEST THE REAR CAMERA CIRCUITS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the coax cable/LVDS camera harness connector from the Radio.
    3. Disconnect the known good working Camera from the vehicle harness connector.
    4. Connect test tool cable kit (special tool #9977-6-8, Adapter, RG-174 Coax Cable) to the Radio and the known good Camera.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    7. With the scan tool, perform the Reset ECU  function under the Guided Diagnostics menu.
    8. Turn the Radio on and wait 25 seconds.
    9. With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

      • Replace the Rear Camera circuit(s) as needed.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS 
    1. Disconnect all Radio harness connectors.
    2. Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
    3. Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
    4. Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
      • Proper connector installation.
      • Damaged connector locks.
      • Corrosion.
      • Other signs of water intrusion.
      • Weather seal damage (if equipped).
      • Bent terminals.
      • Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
      • Presence of foreign conductive materials on connector pins and terminals.
      • Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
      • Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.

      Repair any conditions that are found.

    5. Reconnect all Radio harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    6. Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    7. Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    8. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    9. With the scan tool, perform the Reset ECU  function under the Guided Diagnostics menu.
    10. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    11. With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      No
