Standard Procedure - Sunshade Re-TENSIONING

NOTE:

After the spring loaded pin is pressed to release the sunshade from the frame, do not fully remove the sunshade until the spring tension on the shade is locked. Using care, remove the sunshade by applying light pulling pressure to the steel locking pin, while rotating the sunshade barrel forward. When performed properly, the plastic sunshade barrel will rotate from the 12 o'clock position to the 3 o'clock position, allowing the lock pin to extend out of the barrel and locking the spring tension of the sunshade. If the sunshade spring lock is released before spring tension lock pin is engaged in the internal slot, the sunshade tension will have to be reset.

NOTE:

Make sure to use clean gloves, or that your hands are washed of any oil and dirt, before re-tensioning the sunshade.

  1. Press in on the end of the locking shaft, making sure the spring is completely unwound.
  2. Install and secure the sunshade shaft into a bench-style vise.
  3. Rotate the sunshade counter-clockwise 16 times.

  4. Lock the sunshade barrel by installing a paperclip (1), or equivalent, through the locking shaft opening (2), as shown in illustration. If the sunshade barrel and shaft are not properly locked and the tension is released, repeat this procedure.
