Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    NOTE:

    DO NOT replace the DTCM if this DTC is the only DTC that is set in the DTCM. This DTC only indicates that another ECU that shares the terrain function has a problem.

    1. With the scan tool, read ALL DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. Record the Environmental Data.
    3. With the scan tool, erase ALL DTCs.
    4. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCM DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To

      No 

  2. CHECK FOR DTCM SOFTWARE UPDATE 
    1. With the scan tool, read and record the DTCM part number.
    2. Verify the Drivetrain Control Module (DTCM) is at the latest calibration (flash level).

      Is the DTCM at the latest software level?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. UPDATE DTCM SOFTWARE AND RETEST FOR DTC 
    1. Using the scan tool, update the Drivetrain Control Module (DTCM) software.
    2. Turn the ignition on.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the DTCM.
    4. Test drive the vehicle for up to 5 miles.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

      • Updating the DTCM software repaired the fault.
      • Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTCM VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS 
    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, read all DTCs.

      DTC C2502-64 should only set when the DTCM receives a fault status message from another module.

      Using the DTCs in the scan tool, refer to the diagnostic information in one of the following modules: 

      • Diagnose the PCM DTCs in accordance with the diagnostic information. Refer to appropriate DTC information .
      • Diagnose the EPS DTCs in accordance with the diagnostic information. Refer to DTC TROUBLESHOOTING .
      • Diagnose the ABS DTCs in accordance with the diagnostic information. Refer to DTC TROUBLESHOOTING .
      • Diagnose the TCM DTCs in accordance with the diagnostic information. Refer to appropriate DTC information .
      • Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTCM VERIFICATION TEST .
