Panel, A-Pillar Trim: Removal

  1. Apply protective tape to lower a-pillar trim and to defroster grille, to prevent scaring of either surfaces.
  2. Remove instrument panel end cap by using a (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, to disengage clips holding end cover (2) to instrument panel.

  3. Using a trim stick or equivalent, release the push pin fasteners (1) and the retaining tabs (2) and remove closeout panel (3) located between the A-pillar trim and the front scuff plate.
    CAUTION:

    Be careful not to crease the headliner.

  4. Starting at the top near the headliner, flex the A-pillar trim away from the sheet metal letting the A-pillar trim upper pocket to be released from the headliner. The A-pillar will still be inserted between the instrument panel and the sheet metal at the bottom, and still attached via the tether clip.

  5. Use flat blade screw driver or equivalent tool to disconnect the "tether" clip from the A-pillar trim. It will still remain connected to the sheet metal body.
  6. Slide the A-pillar trim upwards and away from the instrument panel until it is clear of the vehicle.
