Sunshade, Sunroof: Removal

NOTE:

Use clean gloves or make sure your hands are clean before removing and installing the sunshade.

  1. Review the removal and installation video for greater detail.
  2. Remove the front sunroof glass. Refer to GLASS, SUNROOF, REAR, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the drain trough. Refer to TROUGH, SUNROOF, REMOVAL .
  4. Press the sunroof switch and put the front glass guide in the flat position.

  5. Remove the fasteners (1) from rear glass (2).

  6. Carefully slide the rear glass panel (1) forward to gain access to the sunshade (2).
  7. Position the sunshade about 76 mm (3 in.) forward from the full open position.
  8. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.

  9. By hand, twist the guide bar (1) forward to release it and slide off the spring (2) and remove.

  10. Pull slightly on the sunshade fabric to align the sunshade axle hole (1) with the hole in the sunshade (2) and install a pin (3) or equivalent. This locks the sunshade tension spring.

  11. Using firm pressure, push forward in the tension bar (1) until you hear an audible click. Make sure it is un-clipped from the guide bracket (2) and the tension bar feels released.
  12. Repeat on the other side.
  13. Roll the tension bar off the guide brackets at each end.
  14. Push the sunshade fabric rearward and out of the side rails completely.

  15. Grasp the sunshade (1) and rotate it off the right pivot bracket (2), then lift it up and over the pivot bracket.
  16. Pull the right end of the sunshade forward slightly, then pull it out of the left pivot bracket to completely remove.
