Panel, Plenum: Removal

  1. Release hood latch and open hood.
  2. Remove the clips attaching the cowl bulb seal to the cowl panel cover.
  3. Remove the cowl panel cover muckets by pulling up at the end cap to cowl panel cover joint and then pulling the end cap out of the fender.
  4. Remove the driver side wiper cover by pulling up on the cover.
  5. Remove windshield wiper arms. Refer to ARM, WIPER, REMOVAL .
  6. With the use of (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, remove the fasteners (1) attaching cowl panel cover (2) to the cowl plenum extension.

    NOTE:

    It will be necessary to use vehicle when removing the cowl screen from the retainer on the windshield. If the retainer on the windshield is broken/damaged the windshield will require replacement.

  7. Starting at the driver side, pull up on the back edge of the cowl panel cover (1) and work cross vehicle to release the tab from the backside of the cowl panel cover (1) from the groove in the lower windshield channel (2).
  8. Remove cowl cover (1) from vehicle.

    NOTE:

    Shown with hood (1) closed to show fastener location. Access the fasteners (3) with the hood (1) open.

  9. Remove the three fasteners (3) from the plenum panel (2).

    NOTE:

    Right side shown, left side typical.

  10. Remove fasteners (3) from the right and left sides of the plenum panel.
  11. Locate the plenum panel alignment block (2) located beneath cowl plenum lower panel.
  12. Press the tab on the alignment block and lift up to disengage the tab.
  13. Repeat on the opposite side.

  14. Remove plenum panel from the vehicle.
