Grille, Active Shutter: Description
This vehicle features an Active Grille Shutter (AGS) system. The AGS is located behind the front lower portion of the grill and in front of the radiator.
The AGS system consist of an electric motor, shutter vanes, linkage, and seals that are located behind the front grille. The AGS components include:
- Frame
- Right Side Actuator Housing
- Vanes
- Linkage
- Actuator
- Left Side Actuator Housing
Aerodynamics play an important role in regards to fuel efficiency. Aerodynamic drag increases as vehicle speed increases. With the vehicle traveling at highway speeds, engine power requirements increase in order to overcome wind drag across the front of the vehicle. Reducing the wind drag coefficient across the front of the vehicle is directly proportional to an improvement in fuel efficiency.
