Removal And Installation

REMOVAL
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Saturate the clamp nuts with Mopar® Rust Inhibitor and allow 5 minutes for penetration.
- Loosen the tailpipe band clamp (3) from muffler.
- Disengage the tailpipe from the hanger isolator (4) and remove the tailpipe from the muffler.
- Disengage the muffler from the hanger isolators (2).
- Loosen band clamp nut (1) from the exhaust extension pipe and remove the muffler from the extension pipe.
INSTALLATION
- Install the muffler hanger isolators (2).
- Install the muffler to the exhaust extension pipe and tighten band clamp nut (1) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Position the tailpipe to the muffler.
- Install the tailpipe hanger isolator (4).
- Tighten the tailpipe to muffler band clamp nut (3) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Check the exhaust system for contact with the body panels. A minimum of 25 mm (1.0 in.) is required between the exhaust system components and body/frame parts. Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
- Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
