Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
2. Saturate the clamp nuts with Mopar® Rust Inhibitor and allow 5 minutes for penetration.

3. Loosen the tailpipe band clamp (3) from muffler.
4. Disengage the tailpipe from the hanger isolator (4) and remove the tailpipe from the muffler.
5. Disengage the muffler from the hanger isolators (2).
6. Loosen band clamp nut (1) from the exhaust extension pipe and remove the muffler from the extension pipe.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the muffler hanger isolators (2).
2. Install the muffler to the exhaust extension pipe and tighten band clamp nut (1) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
3. Position the tailpipe to the muffler.
4. Install the tailpipe hanger isolator (4).
5. Tighten the tailpipe to muffler band clamp nut (3) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
6. Check the exhaust system for contact with the body panels. A minimum of 25 mm (1.0 in.) is required between the exhaust system components and body/frame parts. Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
7. Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
