Removal And Installation

REMOVAL

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
If equipped, remove the skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FRONT SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , PLATE, SKID, FUEL TANK, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PLATE, SKID, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Mark a line across the axle companion flange, propeller shaft, flange yoke and transfer case for installation reference.

Remove the four bolts (1) from the front drive shaft.

Using a suitable tool, cut the crimped clamp (2). Pull back the boot (1).

Using a snap ring plier, expand the snap ring (1) and remove driveshaft from vehicle.

INSTALLATION

Using a snap ring plier, expand the snap ring (1) Install the front drive shaft to the transfer case.

Place the boot (1) over the connection and install a NEW crimped clamp (2).

Align the previously marked balance marks, and install the four bolts. Torque to proper specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
If equipped, install the skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FRONT SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , PLATE, SKID, FUEL TANK, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PLATE, SKID, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
