Removal And Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 RAM 3500 HD and 2019 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

REMOVAL 

WARNING:

Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

NOTE:

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
  2. Remove the glove box. Refer to GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, LOWER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, UPPER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Reach through glove box opening in the instrument panel and disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the recirculation door actuator.

  4. Remove the two screws (1) that secure the recirculation door actuator to the left side of the HVAC air inlet housing and remove the recirculation door actuator from the air inlet housing.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Position the recirculation door actuator to the right side of the HVAC air inlet housing. If necessary, rotate the actuator slightly to align the splines on the actuator output shaft with those on the recirculation door pivot shaft adapter.
  2. Install the two screws that secure the recirculation door actuator to the air inlet housing. Tighten the screws securely.
  3. Connect the wire harness connector to the mode door actuator.
  4. Verify the wire harness connector is securely attached to the recirculation door actuator.
  5. Install the glove box. Refer to GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, LOWER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, UPPER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
  7. Initiate the Actuator Calibration function using a scan tool. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TEST .
