Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read LBSS DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    3. Cycle the ignition from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
    4. With the scan tool, read LBSS DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE CAN CIRCUITS FROM THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TO THE BCM 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the LBSS Module harness connector and the Instrument Cluster harness connector.
    3. Check the CAN circuits for opens or shorts.

      Are there any CAN circuits shorted or open?

      Yes 

      • Repair the CAN circuits that are open or shorted.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK BCM AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HARNESS CONNECTORS 
    1. Check the LBSS and Instrument Cluster harness connectors.

      Are there any problems with the harness connectors?

      Yes 

      • Restore the correct function of the connector.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER POWER SUPPLY CIRCUITS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Instrument Cluster harness connector.
    3. Check the Instrument Cluster power supply circuits with a test light.

      Does the test light illuminate brightly?

      Yes 

      • Go To  5

      No 

      • Repair the Instrument Cluster Power supply circuits.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  5. CHECK THE LBSS POWER SUPPLY CIRCUITS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the LBSS harness connector.
    3. Check the LBSS power supply circuits with a test light.

      Does the test light illuminate brightly?

      Yes 

      • Go To  6

      No 

      • Repair the LBSS Power supply circuits.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  6. CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FUNCTIONALITY 
    1. Check for proper operation of the Instrument Cluster.

      Does the Instrument Cluster operate correctly?

      Yes 

      • Go To  7

      No 

      • Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  7. CHECK THE LBSS FUNCTIONALITY 
    1. Check for proper operation of the LBSS.

      Does the LBSS operate correctly?

      Yes 

      • Test complete.

      No
