Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jeep Renegade. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls the operation of the Turbocharger system to allow maximum performance and protect against an over boost condition. The PCM uses the feedback from the Boost Pressure Sensor signal to make a decision on the positioning of the Wastegate and Surge Valve. The PCM monitors the Boost Pressure Sensor signal for faults. The Boost Pressure Sensor signal is also checked against the BARO signal for rationality.
