Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read all DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Event Data and Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK PADDLE SHIFT HARNESS CONNECTOR
- Turn the ignition off.
- Inspect the Paddle Shift harness connector.
Is the Paddle Shift harness connector properly connected?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the DCSM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DCSM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK PADDLE SHIFT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT OR HIGH RESISTANCE
- Disconnect the Paddle Shift harness connector
- Disconnect the DCSM harness connector.
- Using a DVOM, check the continuity of the Paddle Shift circuits.
Is the resistance above 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the Paddle Switch circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the DCSM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DCSM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- CHECK THE PADDLE SHIFT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Make sure the Paddle Shift and DCSM harness connectors are disconnected.
- Attach the negative lead of a DVOM to a known good ground.
- With the other lead of the DVOM, probe the Paddle Switch circuits for voltage.
Is there voltage present on the Paddle Shift circuits?
Yes
- Repair the Paddle Shift circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the DCSM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DCSM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Paddle Shift assembly in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the DCSM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DCSM VERIFICATION TEST .
