Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read Amplifier DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    3. Using the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    4. With the scan tool, read Amplifier DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. LEFT SUBWOOFER ELECTRICAL CONNECTION CHECK 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Left Subwoofer and Amplifier harness connectors.
    3. Check for the presence of loose or damaged connections at the Left Subwoofer and Amplifier harness connectors.

      Were there signs of any of the connections being loose or damaged?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE LEFT SUBWOOFER FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Check for continuity between ground and the Left Subwoofer Signal circuit at the Left Subwoofer harness connector.

      Was a short to ground detected?

      Yes 

      • Repair the Left Subwoofer Signal circuit for a short to ground.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK THE LEFT SUBWOOFER SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the Left Subwoofer Signal circuit between the Left Subwoofer harness connector and the Amplifier harness connector.

      Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go To  5

      No 

      • Repair the Left Subwoofer Signal circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  5. CHECK FOR A SHORT BETWEEN THE LEFT SUBWOOFER CIRCUITS 
    1. Check for continuity between circuits at the Left Subwoofer harness connector.

      Was there a presence of a short between circuits in the Left Subwoofer wiring?

      Yes 

      • Repair the short between circuits in the Left Subwoofer wiring.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  6
  6. CHECK THE LEFT SUBWOOFER FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Measure the voltage on the Left Subwoofer Signal circuit at the Left Subwoofer harness connector.

      Is there any voltage present?

      Yes 

      • Repair the Left Subwoofer Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  7
  7. CHECK THE LEFT SUBWOOFER OPERATION 
    1. Check that the Left Subwoofer is working correctly.

      Is the Left Subwoofer working correctly?

      Yes 

      No
