Theory Of Operation

The Electronic Shift Module (ESM) monitors the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) Solenoid (Gear Shift Lock Solenoid) circuits for electrical failures. If the BTSI Solenoid circuit voltage drops below 8.5 volts, A DTC will set and there will not be enough voltage to energize the BTSI Solenoid causing the shifter to be stuck in Park or Neutral.
