Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read Drivetrain Control Module (DTCM) DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS AT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT (PTU) AND REAR DRIVELINE MODULE (RDM)
- Check the electrical connections at the PTU and RDM for corrosion, bent terminals, or other damage.
Are the electrical connection in good working order?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the connections as necessary.
- Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check the electrical connections at the PTU and RDM for corrosion, bent terminals, or other damage.
- ERASE DTCS AND PERFORM THE SCAN TOOL "ON DEMAND SELF TEST"
- With the scan tool, erase the DTCs and perform the On Demand Self Test procedure.
Did any additional DTCs set?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure(s). Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
No
- Go To 4
- With the scan tool, erase the DTCs and perform the On Demand Self Test procedure.
- REPLACE THE PTU ACTUATOR AND CHECK FOR THE DTC TO RETURN
- Replace the PTU Actuator in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to ACTUATOR, SHIFT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Operate the vehicle within the conditions that set the DTC or use the When Monitored Conditions.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Replacing the PTU Actuator corrected the condition.
- Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- REPLACE THE DTCM AND CHECK FOR THE DTC TO RETURN
- Replace the DTCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, DRIVETRAIN CONTROL (DTCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Operate the vehicle within the conditions that set the DTC or use the When Monitored Conditions.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the RDM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replacing the DTCM corrected the condition.
- Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTCM VERIFICATION TEST .
