Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. Record the Environmental Data.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    5. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE PASSENGER AIRBAG ENABLE (PAD) INDICATOR CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Disconnect the PAD Indicator harness connector.
    2. Disconnect the ORC Module harness connectors.
    3. Check for continuity between ground and the PAD Enable circuit at the PAD harness connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the circuit?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE PASSENGER AIRBAG ENABLE (PAD) INDICATOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance of the PAD Disable circuit from the PAD Enable harness connector to the ORC harness connector.

      Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

  4. REPLACE THE PAD INDICATOR 
    1. Replace the PAD Indicator in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SENSOR, OCCUPANT DETECTION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
    2. Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Test complete.
