Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST .
- CHECK THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DISABLE (PAD) INDICATOR CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Disconnect the PAD Indicator harness connector.
- Disconnect the ORC Module harness connectors.
- Turn the ignition on.NOTE:
Probing of the circuit cavities at the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) body harness connectors or in- line connectors with an approved test leads from the test lead kit 10159-6 to prevent vehicle wiring harness connector damage during diagnostic procedures.
- Measure the voltage between ground and the PAD Disable circuit at the indicator harness connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the PAD circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- REPLACE THE PAD INDICATOR
- Replace the PAD Indicator in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST

Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) in accordance with Service Information. Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL (ORC), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
