Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jeep Renegade. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    NOTE:

    All Fobs used with this vehicle should be present during this test.

    NOTE:

    Verify that the battery is fully charged with a DVOM and use the scan tool to compare the Battery Voltage listed under "Data" in the RFH View to that of the BCM. If the battery is not fully charged, correct this condition before proceeding.

    1. With the scan tool, read RF Hub DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. Press the lock/unlock button of the alleged inoperative Fob several times.
    3. With the scan tool, read RF Hub DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
      • The Fob may have already been re-synchronized by being in the vehicle while it was being driven. Inform the owner of the most probable cause for this code to set and therefore causing the Fob to be inoperative.
  2. CHECK THE FOB 
    1. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
    2. Turn the ignition off.
    3. Put the inoperative Fob in the vehicle.
    4. With the good Fob, start and drive the vehicle above five miles per hour for one mile.
    5. Turn the ignition off.
    6. Operate the inoperative Fob in all positions several times.
    7. With the scan tool, read RF Hub DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Fob and program using the scan tool.

      No 

      • The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension and repair as necessary. If no problems are found, test complete.
