Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
This DTC must be active for the results of this test to be valid.
- Perform any Service Bulletins that may apply.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read ABS DTCs and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, read and record Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase ABS DTCs.
- Start the engine.
- Press the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) switch on.
- Press the ESC switch off.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the ABS-INTERMITTENT CONDITION TEST. Refer to ABS INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- HILL DECENT CONTROL (HDC) SWITCH
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the HDC Switch harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the DTC remain active?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Replace the Hill Decent Control (HDC) Switch.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
- HDC SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the ABS Module harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage of the HDC Switch Sense circuit at the ABS Module harness connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the Hill Decent Control (HDC) Switch Sense circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
