Generator Light Does Not Work

Turning the ignition key to run, the generator warning light does not come on.

1 CHECK WITH DIAGNOSTIC TOOL Result OK Result Not OK Action
  Connect a diagnostic scan tool.
Test the functionality of the light in the instrument panel cluster through active diagnosis.
Continue to Step 2 The light doesn't work. Replace instrument panel cluster
2 CHECK ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Result OK Result Not OK Action
  Verify the Body Control Module (BCM) power supplies are correct and in particular the signal "D +". Continue to Step 3 1. Power to the BCM incorrect
2. Signal D + between generator and BCM interrupted or faulty wiring
3. Faulty generator
1. Restore correct power to the BCM
2. Restore proper wiring
3. Replace generator
3 CHECK PROPER OPERATION Result OK Result Not OK Action
  Verify that the fault is no longer present Diagnostic complete
