Removal - Outer Tie Rod

- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL

- Loosen the tie rod jam nut (3) at the outer tie rod (2).
- Remove and DISCARD
the outer tie rod end nut (1) at the steering knuckle (5).
- Using Remover (special tool #9360, Remover, Ball Joint) (2), separate the outer tie rod end (1) from the steering knuckle.NOTE:
Count the number of turns when removing the outer tie rod end. This will give a good starting point when reassembling and when setting the toe.
- Remove the outer tie rod end (2) by unthreading it from the inner tie rod (4).
