Power Transfer Unit (PTU) Fluid Fill

The PTU oil is not a scheduled maintenance service.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  4. Remove the PTU oil filler cap and check the oil level is just below the bottom edge of the fill hole.
  5. If necessary, fill the PTU to the bottom of the fill plug hole using the specified fluid. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Clean and tighten the PTU fill plug securely.
  7. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
