AWD Light Stays On

1 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK DATA USING DIAGNOSIS EQUIPMENT OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
Traction control module Connect the diagnostic equipment and save the report with the vehicle information. Go to Step 2  - -
2 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK REAR DIFFERENTIAL CLASSIFICATION OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
Rear differential Connect the diagnosis equipment and check the rear differential classification Go to Step 3  - Position the vehicle on the lift and check that the value detected using the diagnostic equipment corresponds to the number printed on the label present on the rear differential.
3 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK ALL-WHEEL DRIVE CONNECTOR CONNECTIONS OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
PTU harness all-wheel drive connector connections (in engine compartment) Check for presence of bent pins on all-wheel drive connector connection and integrity of the wiring Go to Step 4  Presence of bent pins or not intact wiring Replace the wiring and then connect the diagnostic equipment and check that the state passes from "Present" to "Stored". Run a road test.
4 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK ALL-WHEEL DRIVE CONNECTOR RESISTANCE VALUE OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
PTU harness all-wheel drive connector (in engine compartment) Check measured resistance values and compare with reference values Go to Step 5  Resistance values do not conform Replace the all-wheel drive connector and run a road test
5 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK ALL-WHEEL DRIVE ACTUATOR RESISTANCE VALUE OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
All-wheel drive actuator (PTU motor) Check that there is no presence of water or dust on the all-wheel drive actuator connections Go to Step 6  Presence of water or dust or incorrect resistance values Replace the all-wheel drive actuator. Run a road test.
6 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK ALL-WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL MODULE CONNECTION OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
DTCM all-wheel drive control unit connections Check correct positioning of the connector on the control module and then for loose connections Go to Step 7  Presence of loose connections Restore the correct connections
7 COMPONENT CONCERNED POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE CONNECTION CHECK OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
DTCM all-wheel drive control unit connections Check for the presence of bent or burnt pins on the connector on control module side and on wiring side Go to Step 8  Presence of bent or burnt pins. DTCM wiring or connector not intact. Replace the control module or electrical wiring if totally compromised.
8 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK ALL-WHEEL DRIVE ACTUATOR OPERATION OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
All-wheel drive actuator (PTU motor) Connect the diagnostic equipment, activate the "Roller bench" function and check for presence of error C2270 - 77: check the operation of the all-wheel drive actuator using the "Roller bench dynamometer mode" function on the diagnostic equipment Go to Step 9  Gear not functioning The intermediate gear of the all-wheel drive actuator has a damaged tooth: replace the PTU.
9 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK CONNECTIONS ON REAR DIFFERENTIAL OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
Connections on rear differential Check for presence of water, dust, bent pins or loose connections on the wiring and on the rear differential (it is located under the front kick plate on driver side) Go to Step 10  Presence of bent pins or not intact wiring Replace the rear differential and the electrical wiring.
10 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK OPERATION USING DIAGNOSIS EQUIPMENT OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
Rear differential Connect the diagnosis equipment and check for related errors C2220-54 and C2230-98 Go to Step 11  Presence of errors C2220-54 and C2230-98 Proceed as follows: Delete error C2230-98 and run the "Auto test on demand" calibration procedure. If the AWD light turns on during the procedure but error C2220-54 appears, check the rear differential oil conditions. If it is dark and smelly, replace the rear differential and run the initialization procedure.
11 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK OPERATION USING DIAGNOSIS EQUIPMENT OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
Rear differential Connect the diagnosis equipment and check for the presence of error C2230-98 Go to Step 12  Presence of error C2230-98 Extract the right driveshaft in axial direction: if the displacement is equal to or greater than 1 cm replace the rear differential and run the initialization procedure.
12 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK OPERATION USING DIAGNOSIS EQUIPMENT OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
Rear differential Connect the diagnosis equipment and check for the presence of error C2230-98 Go to Step 13  Presence of dark, smelly oil. Run a road test at a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) until the AWD state signal switches to 2WD. Press the lock button or select SNOW-SAND or MUD mode (ROCK mode, if present). If a noise can be heard during the switch, replace the rear differential and run the initialization procedure.
13 COMPONENT CONCERNED CHECK CAN LINE WIRING BETWEEN BODY COMPUTER AND TRACTION CONTROL MODULE OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
Traction control module wiring Check CAN line wiring for continuity between the traction control module and the body computer Go to Step 14  Break in the wiring continuity Restore the correct continuity of the wiring
14 COMPONENT CONCERNED ALL-WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL MODULE CONNECTION CHECK OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
Traction control module wiring Check insulation of the CAN bus wiring, the correct tightening of the control module connector on vehicle wiring side. Go to Step 15  Wiring insulation not correct Restore the correct wiring insulation
15 COMPONENT CONCERNED ALL-WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL MODULE CONNECTION CHECK OK (NO FAULTS DETECTED) FAULT DETECTED OPERATION
All-wheel drive control unit connections Check for presence of bent or corroded (burnt) pins on the traction control module Presence of bent or corroded (burnt) pins on the traction control module Presence of bent or corroded (burnt) pins on the traction control module Replace the Drivetrain Control Module
