Positive Cable: Removal

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Be certain that all electrical accessories are turned off.
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the battery. Refer to BATTERY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  4. Remove the positive battery cable (1b) to Battery Distribution Unit (BDU) mounting nut (1a).
  5. Disengage the positive battery cable (2) retainers.

  6. Remove the protective cap (1) from the positive battery cable at the generator.
  7. Remove the positive battery cable to generator mounting nut (2), and remove the positive cable from the generator.
  8. Release the positive cable from the retaining clip (3).
  9. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  10. Release the retaining clips (1) securing cable to bracket.

  11. Remove the fasteners (1) for the wire harness retaining clips.

  12. Release the protective cover (1a) and remove the positive battery cable to starter mounting nut (2), and remove the positive cable from the starter (1b).
  13. Remove the positive battery cable (3) from the vehicle.
