Negative Cable: Removal

NOTE:

Battery terminals must be disconnected only with the ignition key on STOP or removed for at least one minute and never with key on or when the engine is running.

NOTE:

1.0L, 1.6L negative battery cables similar.

Press the release (1a) and disconnect the negative battery cable (1b) from the negative terminal post (1c).

Open the retaining clip (1a) and remove the ground cable (1b).
Remove the left front wheel splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL .

Remove the nut (2a) and disconnect the ground cable (1b) from the frame.
Remove the bolt (1a) and disconnect the ground cable (1b) from the transmission.
NOTE:
The position of the ground cable (1b) on the transmission can change depending on the type of transmission installed.
Check that the ground wire is not damaged and that the individual wires are securely attached to the connections. If needed, perform continuity checks.
