Park Detent And Manual Shaft Removal

The transmission does not require removal to complete the following procedure.

  1. Remove the valve body from the transmission. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  2. Pull upward on the cable end (1) while pushing down on release button (2) to remove the shifter cable from the manual lever (3).
  3. Remove the nut holding the manual shift lever to the manual shaft.
  4. Pry the manual shift lever upward and off the manual shaft.

  5. Remove the detent spring screws (2) and remove the detent spring (1).

    NOTE:

    Do not allow the roll pin to fall into the transmission.

  6. Using a suitable pin-punch (2), carefully drive the roll-pin out of the detent hub (1).

  7. Pull the manual shaft (1) out of the detent hub and transmission housing.

  8. Remove the detent hub (2) and park rod (1) from the transmission.
