Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.WARNING:
When the engine is operating, do not stand in direct line with the fan. Do not put your hands near the pulleys, belts or fan. Do not wear loose clothing. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.
Is the DTC active or pending?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
- CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
Are there any APP Sensor out of range or 5-Volt reference DTCs active or pending?
Yes
- Perform the applicable diagnostic procedure(s). Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
No
- Go To 3
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
- PERFORM THE ETC RELEARN AND RETEST FOR DTC
- With a scan tool perform the ETC RELEARN function.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Start the engine.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active or pending?
Yes
- Replace the APP Sensor in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SENSOR, ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION . After installation is complete, perform the ETC RELEARN function.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
