Catalytic Converter: Removal

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the intake air tube. Refer to TUBE, INTAKE AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the turbocharger heat shield. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- Disengage the upper retaining clips (1a) of the pressurized coolant bottle (1b).
- Disengage the lower retaining clip (2a) and reposition the pressurized coolant bottle (1b).
- Unlock and disconnect the upstream oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1).
- Open the clips (2) and release the wiring.
- Unlock and disconnect the downstream oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1).
- Open the clip (2) and release the wiring.
- Remove the bolts (1a) and nuts (1b) and remove the upper catalytic converter mounting bracket (1c).
- Loosen the collar bolt (1) securing the catalytic converter to the turbocharger.
- Remove the nuts (1a) and remove the exhaust pipe (1b) from the catalytic converter.
- Remove the gasket.
- Remove the nuts (1) from the exhaust pipe flange.
- Remove the bolts (2) securing the catalytic converter support bracket to the crankcase.
- Remove the bolts (3) from the side mounting brackets.
- Remove the catalytic converter assembly (1).
- If required, remove the nuts and the lower mounting bracket (1) from the catalytic converter.
- If required, remove the upstream oxygen sensor (1) from the catalytic converter.
- If required, remove the downstream oxygen sensor (1) from the catalytic converter.
- If required, remove the bolts (1a), nut (1b) and the heat shield (1c) from the catalytic converter.
- If required, remove the bolts (1a) and the catalytic converter support bracket (1b).
- If required, remove the bolts (1a) and the catalytic converter side support brackets (1b) and (1c).
