DISASSEMBLY
- Remove the air inlet housing from the distribution housing. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the power blower motor module. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the condensation drain tube. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the mode door actuator. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the left and right blend door actuators and linkage. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the heater core. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the outer seal (1) around the expansion valve area.
- Remove the screw (1a) and remove the pipe guard (1b), releasing the retainer (1c).
- Remove the coolant supply/return pipes (2) of heater and air conditioner from the housing.NOTE:
The pipe seals must be replaced.
- Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the evaporator temperature sensor.
- Remove the connectors (2a) from the relay support (2b).
- Remove the screws (3a) and release the connector support (3b) and the relay supports (2b).
- Remove the bands and the release the wiring retainers of the housing, then remove the HVAC case wiring (1).
- If necessary, remove one or both air conditioner system relays (2a) extracting them from the relay support (2b).CAUTION:
Seal the disconnected unions with suitable plugs to prevent moisture and impurities from entering the system.
- Remove the screws (1) securing the expansion valve (2a).
- Extract the expansion valve (2a) by releasing it from the surround seal (2b) and the evaporator pipes (2c).
- Remove the expansion valve seals (3).NOTE:
Do not reuse the same seals when installing.
- If present, disconnect from the coupling (1a) on the housing, the hose (1b) of the air to the dashboard lining upper box.
- Remove the screws (1a) on the front side of the housing.
- Remove the side screws (2a) release the side retainers (2b) and (2c), then separate the front half-shell (2d) from the rear half-shell (2e).
- Remove the screw (1a) and loosen the wiring (1b) of the evaporator temperature sensor (1c) by pushing the edges (1d) of the front half-shell in the direction of the arrows.
- Remove the evaporator temperature sensor (2a) from the finned surface of the evaporator (2b) by releasing the retaining clip (2c).
- Carefully remove the evaporator (1a) from the front half-shell (1b).
ASSEMBLY
- Check that the evaporator is intact and does not show signs of damage or deposits of dirt on the finned surface.
- Insert the evaporator in the front half-shell.
- Position the frost sensor from the finned surface of the evaporator and engage the retaining clip.
- Constrain the wiring of the front sensors to the edges of the front half-shell and tighten the screw securely.
- Connect the front and rear half-shells engaging the side retainers.
- Tighten the side and front screws securely.
- If present, connect the hose of the air to the dashboard upper storage compartment to the housing.
- Check that the expansion valve is not damaged.
- Position the new seals of the expansion valve in the housing.
- Place the expansion valve in position and secure it using the bolts.
- Insert the surround seal of the expansion valve in its housing.
- Check that the wiring of the HVAC case is not damaged and that the individual conductors are correctly fastened to the connections. If necessary, carry out appropriate continuity tests.
- Position the HVAC case wiring and fasten it using the bands and the retainers.
- Fit the relay support and tighten the screws securely.
- Connect the wire harness connector to the evaporator temperature sensor.
- Fit the new seals on the pipes.
- Position the pipe guard and engage the retainer, then tighten the screw securely.
- Engage the outer seal in the expansion valve area.
- Install the heater core. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the left and right blend door actuators and linkage. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the mode door actuator. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the condensation drain tube. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the power blower motor module. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the air inlet housing to the distribution housing. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
